Safe Web History The Internet browser keeps a history of the websites you visit online. Deleting your browser history may be important to ensure your safety and privacy. Please Note: These steps are not intended to represent all versions of all browsers. For full instructions, please refer to the Help section of your web browser or to the vendor's web site. Internet Explorer From the top of the browser window click on TOOLS (on older versions of Internet Explorer, click on VIEW). From the INTERNET OPTIONS window, also click on the DELETE FILES button. Again, from the INTERNET OPTIONS window, select ADVANCED. Netscape Navigator From the top of the browser window click on EDIT. From the PREFERENCES window, also select ADVANCED. Again, from PREFERENCES window, also click the CLEAR LOCATION BAR button. Tools For Windows systems using Internet Explorer, downloadable tools are available to perform these same tasks, perhaps more reliably. However, STAND! Against Domestic Violence makes no claim or warranty as to how effective these tools are, nor how they might affect the performance of your system. Visit the following web sites to download a safe web history tool for free: http://www.unhsolutions.net/IEPK/ or http://www.boutell.com/trackless/. Other tools can be found that offer a limited trial period before you make a purchase. One site to search is http://www.freedownloadscenter.com, using the term web history cleaner or similar expressions. Printer Queue Make sure you know where your printed documents are and that you don’t leave behind any unfinished print jobs (this may happen, for example, if your printer runs out of paper or if you print multiple copies of a document by accident). In Windows, you can check your print queue by going to START >> SETTINGS >> PRINTERS. Next, double-click the printer icon; a queue of print jobs will be displayed. Delete any waiting jobs as necessary. |
