Treatment Services Treatment services completes the cycle of hope that STAND! builds through prevention and intervention services. Violence is a learned behavior and can be unlearned. Children can learn that their dark experiences do not have to be their future reality. People who have been abused can heal the damage of domestic violence through therapy and healthy behaviors. And abusers can be confronted with their destructive behavior and change it.
Domestic Violence Treatment The STAND! Domestic Violence Treatment Program represents just one of the many ways in which STAND! Against Domestic Violence works toward the mission of ending all forms of spousal or partner abuse. Since 1981, the program has worked directly with people who abuse to change the perceptions, values, beliefs, socialization and ways of thinking that underlie their abusiveness. Since 1994 we have also offered groups for abusive women. During 2008-2009, 278 men and 54 women attended our domestic violence treatment program classes. Group and Individual Counseling The wounds of domestic violence run deep. STAND! provides counseling to clients and their children as part of their recovery from violence. One-on-one and support group counseling is offered throughout Contra Costa County to individuals impacted by domestic violence. During 2008-2009: 1,013 women and men who were abused received counseling and support group services. Domestic violence affects children of all ages who are abused or witness abuse in their homes. STAND!'s Childrens Therapy program provides individual counseling for children with trained clinicians and counselors. During 2008-2009: 72 children received counseling through our children's therapy program. |
