What We Do

To stop the cycle of domestic violence it must be confronted at every turn. Each individual, each family affected by violence has unique needs. Some need counseling or support groups. Others need emergency shelter or transitional housing. And for some, help means learning to solve conflict peacefully. Whatever the needs of people affected by violence, STAND! knows how to meet them.

STAND! is the sole provider of comprehensive domestic violence services in Contra Costa County. And we deliver. During the past three years STAND! has answered more than 18,000 calls to our crisis line. We've housed nearly 300 women and 350 children in our emergency shelter and in our transitional housing facility. Nearly 800 clients received legal advocacy services. All STAND! services are provided by a highly trained, culturally competent group of 58 staff and more than 100 volunteers.

STAND's services reflect its philosophy of comprehensive and community-wide approaches to the problem of domestic violence. We provide support, shelter and training to people who are abused, treatment programs to people who abuse, and preventive education programs to youth, children and adults who might experience abuse in the future. These services fall under three categories: Intervention, Treatment and Prevention.
